Another cover mock-up! I so want to be a part of this newly relaunched mag!

Ratfink Tribute

I’ve always encouraged new artists to practice by drawing in other artists’ styles. There’s a lot you can learn from doing this. Above I drew Ratfink – a character I drew upon request. I hope I did the character some justice.

Roadkill’s General Mayhem

I’ll put this out to the universe. I want to contribute vehicle illustrations in some capacity to the new Roadkill magazine. The Youtube video series and inaugural issue, featuring General Mayhem – a ’68 Charger, inspired this particular sketch. -Krishna

Rusty Punchbuggy

I found a VW Beetle with a jet engine attached on its back, and immediately knew I had to capture it on paper. -Krishna

Robots, Astronauts and Vehicle Sketches

The importance of daily sketching can’t be understated. How can one improve without practice? I earmark a small chunk of time every day to creating sketches. I utilize references from sites like Pinterest when drawing. Draw outside your comfort zone. By that, I mean: draw things you usually don’t draw. Break down objects into volumetric shapes. Work on line confidence. Through daily study and rigor, you will see improvement over time. -Krishna

PC Weenies: Riding the Goldwing

The piece above was drawn as a commission for a long time reader of my online comic, PC Weenies. Drawing motorcycles is a bit of a challenge, particularly the Goldwing model I was asked to draw – but I’m happy with how it turned out. I’m taking on art commissions for a limited time to help fund my new PC build. If you’re interested in a custom illustration piece, please drop me a line. -Krishna

Ratrod Rex

This piece is heavily inspired by my interest in YouTube shows like Roadkill (with HOT ROD’s David Freiberger and Mike Finnegan) and the latest MadMax film, with a side of Jurassic Park thrown in for good measure. Pencils: Inks: Colors:

Mad Max Fury Road Tribute

Mad Max: Fury Road was an incredible film, full of amazing visuals and kinetic chase sequences. This is my little tribute to the film.

Firebird!

Rough pencils and final, for a classic muscle car – the Pontiac Firebird!

Process: VW “Punchbuggy”

Modern vehicles may have all the tech, but the cars of old have a certain distinct look that makes them beautiful in my eyes. (They don’t make cars like they used to.) For as long as I can remember, I have always dug the Volkswagen Beetle. Maybe because its shape is so friendly. Or that I saw “Herbie the Love Bug” movie as a kid. In any event, Volkswagen Beetle die-cast cars were among my top picks. I was a Matchbox kid all the way, but in later years warmed up to the flashy Hot Wheels cars. Here’s my attempt […]

Process: Revolutionaries

Below is a breakdown of a vehicle piece I started working on last week. I’m particularly enamored with older cars, and that’s how I came across the Datsun 510. The diminutive boxy frame needed an over-sized, cobbled-together motor, so I happily obliged. Growing up on shows like “Dukes of Hazard” and “The A-Team” fuels a lot of my fascination with vehicles. I’m drawn to bright, vibrant (intense) color palettes in my work. Here I used green and orange as main colors to provide some balance. The background is intense, and the illustrated elements have a more desaturated look, giving it […]
