My Favorite Toy


Last year I was approached by writer Jesse Young to illustrate a 4-page comic story based on an idea he had developed. Yesterday, all 4 pages went up and I’m super stoked with how the comic pages turned out. Below are the thumbnails I created for the story, based on Jesse’s script. Cover for my latest Portfolio Book


As 2015 comes to a close, I spent some time going through the body of work I created this year to compile the best of the bunch into a printed portfolio book. Assembling a portfolio book has become an annual tradition for me. There’s something appealing about seeing one’s work in print. Making a book involves curation. It demands focus. In Defense of the Print Portfolio


I’m not here to debate the merits of whether creating a print portfolio makes sense for design professionals, but I do know one thing: I enjoy making them. These days, the bulk of my work is done entirely on the computer. Although I share my work on various social networks (and this portfolio site), seeing my illustrations in the tangible form of a book makes my work feel more “real” to me.
